Medicine Hat Potteries, Childs Tea Set ca 1930’s to 50’s

This set is probably between 60 and 77 years old .  It’s hard to pinpoint a date from the backstamp (of an Indian crouched under a large sombrero) because the company used the same one for its  lifetime.  The company was in operation from 1938 to 1955 after which it was sold to Marwell Construction of Vancouver who manufactured and marketed products under the name of Hycroft.

The teapot and creamer are in perfect condition but the sugar bowl has a hairline crack in it.  The crack is small and hard to find at first glance.  All three pieces have the Medicine Hat Potteries backstamp.

To see this and many other mid century kitchen items, please visit me at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON, just 30 minutes west of the city of Ottawa ON.  Open 7 days a week, all year long, from 10am to 5pm. Plenty of free parking at rear of the building. Over 50 vendors in a heritage 2 storey brick building selling a wide range of antiques and collectibles.

I will also have a booth at the Ottawa Antique & Vintage Market being held on March 21st and 22nd 2015, at the Carleton University Fieldhouse Building.

This set is priced at $75 due to its rarity.

Vintage Red Vinyl Mid Century Chrome Step Stool

15 May

step stool

We just finished reupholstering and cleaning this mid century chrome step stool.  We used a tough red marine vinyl for the seat and back and put new rubber treads on the freshly painted silver steps. We cleaned and polished the chrome so now it looks great and ready to go to my booth in Almonte, at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON.

Nice and sturdy, great for the kitchen.

Priced at $65.

Please note this item is now SOLD!!!

Rosti from Denmark, Purple and Red Melamine Dishes

9 Dec

IMG_6082

I hardly ever come across Rosti dishes. I find the utensils and mixing bowls and jugs frequently, but not plates and cups. These all have the Rosti mark, made in Denmark.

Most of the pieces in the photo show some utensil wear and usage but since I have never found these in any large amount before, I thought they would be worth having even with the wear and tear.  The colours are still very vibrant.  The two lug bowls are not Rosti but complement the colours of the Rosti.  The colours are a deep purple and bright red.

The dishes will soon be for sale in my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte, ON,just 30 minutes west of the city of Ottawa.

Priced separately at between $2 and $4 each  piece.

Please note the red dishes are now SOLD!!

IMG_6063

Vintage Coco Chanel yellow vinyl and clear vinyl striped purse.  The shoulder strap has some wear along the edges.  This may be a reproduction, but I don’t know for sure.  It is still a very nice example and would be great for toting things to the beach in the summer.

Will be for sale eventually at my booth in Almonte ON, at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street.

Please note this purse is now SOLD!!

Fire King Peach Lustre Dishes, ca. 1950’s to 1963

IMG_5894

Fire King Peach Lustre dishes in the Laurel pattern and 3 band pattern.   First made in 1951 and continued production until 1963.  Hard to find in really nice condition as the finish tended to wear off after continued washing.  These are all pristine.  These should never be put in a dishwasher or scrubbed vigorously.  The finish can last quite well with care.

The dinner plates are all sold, but I still have in stock cups and saucers at $5 a set, chili bowls at $8 each, mugs at $6 each, cream and sugar are $5 each. Mini casseroles in the copper tint colour are $3 each. Small dessert bowls are $3 each.

For sale at my booth at the Amonte Antiques Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON, just 30 minutes west of the city of Ottawa.

This is a really nice smaller sized formica topped chrome table, ca. 1950’s.  It has a unique plaid patterned top and bevelled wood sides.  It comes with one extension leaf and could sit 4 to 6 people.  The top is in great condition, nice and shiny and not too much wear.  The chrome is in fairly good condition. Missing a couple of rubber tips for the legs, which are harder to find for the double chrome tubed legs.  We are on the hunt for them.   The chairs were purchased separately at another sale, but they do go well with the table.  They are in fairly decent condition, and the vinyl is in good shape.

For sale at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON, just 30 minutes west of the city of Ottawa.

Priced at $265.00 for the set.

Please note this set is now SOLD!!!
