Two very large and heavy square candle holders.  They measure about 5″ square and could be turned over and used as trivets.  No makers marks or stickers so no idea of the manufacturer. Definitely look mid century in design. Possibly Scandinavian.

Whimsical plaques by Bjorn Wiinblad, a Danish designer, for Nymolle pottery company in Norway in the 60’s or possibly early 70’s.  This is a complete set of 12, one for each month of the year.  All are done in black and white and are in very nice condition.  The surfaces of most of them are crazed slightly, but there is no discolouration or damage.  They have a small hole to thread a ribbon or piece of leather through, so they can be hung for display. They could be  used as trivets as well.  Each measures approx. 6″ in diameter and approx. 1/4″ thick.

These plaques will be for sale at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON

Priced at $95 for the set.

Iittala Ultima Thule Footed Cordials by Tapio Wirkkala, Finland

IMG_7030

These are 2 1/2″ footed cordials made by IIttala, Finland in the Ultima Thule pattern, designed by Tapio Wirkkala.   They date to the 1960’s.

I found the following information about the designer on Iittala.com

Tapio Wirkkala 1968

Inspired by the melting ice in Lapland, Wirkkala originally created the surface in the 1960s after carving into a graphic mould. An exclusive design reflecting the thousands of hours spent perfecting the glass-blowing technique required to produce the effect. The patterns gradually change as the glass burns the surface of the wooden moulds.

Please Note: these glasses are now SOLD!!
