Hornsea Linear Red and White Striped Canisters

I think these pretty red and white striped canisters were made in the late 70’s or early 80’s.  The pattern is called Linear. They were made by Hornsea Co. and located in Hornsea  (the town of Hornsea is in the East Riding of Yorkshire England). The company was in production from 1949 until 2000 when it went in to receivership.   In 1967 the factory started to produce full ranges of tableware, the first being the John Clappison-designed Heirloom, followed by his Saffron and Bronte patterns. The 1960’s and 70’s they were in their heyday of production.  Tastes changed in the early 80’s and profits plummeted.

Tucked in between the canisters is an Androck syrup dispenser with red plastic handle, dating to the 60’s.

Hornsea is widely collected and is durable and beautiful still today.  These canisters are in excellent used condition, the lids still fitting snugly.

These canisters will be for sale shortly in my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON.  The market is open 7 days a weeks, all year long.  Over 50 different vendors in a two storey heritage building.

Priced at $ 35 for the pair.
