Russian Hand Painted Lacquered Metal Tray

23 Sep

russian tray with knife russian tray signature This tray is stunning.  The floral pattern is beautifully painted with rich colours and gives me such pleasure to look at it.  It is made in Russia and could be by an artist from the village of Zhostovo which is world famous for its artists who create these beautiful lacquered hand painted trays. There are a couple of circular marks on it but they aren’t that visible unless you hold the tray up to a light source.  There doesn’t appear to be any serious scratches or other damage. I can’t make out the artist’s name but it looks like it starts with a K. Perhaps someone will be kind enough to inform me if they know it. Priced at $45.

Item will be available at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON.  Please note, I do not ship items.

Catherineholm of Norway, Lotus Enamel Ware Pot by Grete Kittelsen

6 Mar

Designed by Grete Kittelsen for Catherineholm Co., often called the Queen of Scandinavian Design, ca. 1960’s.  The Catherineholm company takes its name from its hometown in Norway.  There is no actual Catherine Holm. This is the lotus pattern in a beautiful sage green stylised leaf pattern on white.  This pot is missing its metal carrying handle which would have fit in the groove just under the top of the rim.  The pot is in excellent condition.  There are no dents or scratches to the enamel that I could see.  Inside is clean and shiny.

This will be for sale in my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON.

Priced at $55.00 Firm

Georges Briard Enamelled Covered Pot in Ambrosia Pattern

13 Feb

I really like these designs by Georges Briard. This one is called ‘Ambrosia’.

Found this info on the web:

George Briard (1917-2005), an immigrant from the Ukraine, was an award winning designer from the 1950’s through the 1970’s. He used his real name, “Jascha Brojdo”, on his fine art (paintings, sculpture) and the assumed name of “George Briard” for his commercial designs. He is well known for his signature dishes and glassware which were sold at noted department stores, such as Bonwit Teller and Neiman Marcus.

This lovely pot is in very good condition, with minimal wear to the enamelled finish. The gold seems to be all intact on the design and there are no glaring scratches.

Will be for sale at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON

Priced at $35.00

Enamelled Tin Turkey Platter, Hong Kong

25 Jan

tin turkey platter

Enamelled tin turkey platter made in Hong Kong, dates to mid 20th century. I found this at a thrift store under a pile of other trays.  Fortunately it was undamaged and I scooped it up.  Very colourful and practical although it is only on display for now. I am leery of using it in case I scratch the surface.
