The above are all examples of Holt Howard’s kitschy designs ca. 1950’s.  Holt-Howard was created in 1948 by John and Robert Howard and A. Grant Holt.  They made cutesy items for the kitchen and giftware.  They are probably best known for their pixie ware which commands high prices in the collectibles market.

The 1954 ashtray in the shape of a man in a striped shirt allows the smoke to escape through the mouth.  The cat ashtray sports a push down handle which empties the ashes  into the head.  The Rooster jam and jelly jar is one of many dishes that were embellished with roosters by Holt Howard Co.   They ceased all production in 1990.

These items will be for sale at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market in Almonte Ontario.

Copy of IMG_4033

Gorgeous jewel tone colours on these fondue plates made in France by Sarreguemines.  I would date these to the  early 70’s when fondues were all the rage.  These will be for sale at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market  in Almonte Ontario for $25.00 for the six plates.

Note: These plates are now SOLD!!!

I couldn’t resist these colourful plates at a recent sale at an auction house.   They are not marked on the back so I don’t know anything about them.   They did come from an estate of an elderly couple so I am guessing they have some age to them.

Please Note: These plates are now SOLD!

Mid Century Slatted Shade Lamp

Slatted Shade Lamp

Fun lamp from the mid 20th century.  It has a green slatted metal shade.  The slats are held together with metal chains. The base is a glazed ceramic horse in shades of brown and mint green.  I have seen this shade on different bases but I know this one is original to this particular base.  It came from an estate sale where  almost everything in the house was from the 40’s to the 60’s.  It was like a step back in time.

Note: This lamp has been SOLD!!
