Unique teapot from Tastesetter by Sigma,  with a Pierrot clown reclining on the top, forming the handle and lid. The teapot was made in Japan and imported by Sigma which was a division of Rockville International operating in Garden City N.Y in the late 1960’s and 70’s.  Sigma was only around for about 10 years so these whimisical items are hard to find and thus very collectible.  This piece probably dates to the early 1970’s.

The condition is excellent, no nicks or cracks or other damage noted.

You can find this item and other treasures at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON, just west of Ottawa, ON.

Open 7 days a week, from 10am to 5pm, all year round.

Priced at $45.00

Mushroom Patterned Mugs, Made in Japan

14 Jun

IMG_7925

Wonderful set of 4 colourful pedestal mugs, with pattern of mushrooms in blue, green and mustard yellow. These colours, and of course the mushrooms, are indicative of the late 60’s or early 70’s.  Japan manufactured a huge amount of colourful dishware for the North American market during this time period so it is still relatively easy to find and collect.  Finding items in mint condition is a little harder and prices usually reflect that.

These mugs are in wonderful condition and are on display and for sale at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON.

Priced at $20 for the set of 4.

Vintage Plastic Egg Cups, Rosti, Egg-Cessory, Mid Century

There are quite a few different styles, shapes and sizes of plastic egg cups out there to collect.  Many of the plastic egg cups do not have a maker’s mark on them but some are quite recognizable by their shape.
The dark blue and white ones are Rosti from Denmark, the tall stack of primary coloured ones are Egg-Cessory,  and the others in the photos are unmarked.

I purchased the Egg-Cessory egg cups from a kind friend who agreed to part with them.  They were just so cute, I had to have them!!

They remind me of flying saucers which would fit right in with the atomic era styles of the mid century.

Priced at between $2 and $4 apiece.  They are at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, Almonte ON.
