Emerald Glo was made by Paden City Glass Company for Rubel in the 1940’s and 50’s.  The pattern was also made by Fenton in the later years of production but Fenton did not have the ‘star cut’ on it’s glass pieces.  All pieces with the ‘star cut’ on the glass were made by Paden City.  The pieces above all have the star cut on the glass.   All lids have green Bakelite handles.

The trio is a condiment set, the lidded bowl is a Marmalade dish, and the 2 on the tray are cream and sugar.

Vintage Light Fixture Shade, Frosted Glass

11 Jan

IMG_3430

I quite like these old glass light shades.  This one is about 6″ tall and is made of very thick and heavy glass,  and painted  with a soft frosted amber colour.  It is in excellent condition and I think very charming and simple.  Probably suitable for a hallway more than a bedroom.  I would date this to around the 40’s or earlier.   Found it at my local thrift store (my favourite hangout during the day).

Note: This has been SOLD!!

Iroquois Casual China by Russel Wright

13 Dec

IMG_3320

Ca. 1940 to 1964.  The brown colour is called Iroquois and the pattern is  Casual China designed by Russel Wright.  If  you collect mid century modern dishes, you will be familiar with the designer Russel Wright.  He designed the most popular line of dishware in American history called American Modern which is widely collected.  He also designed furniture which is much sought after today.

These items were found at a thrift store and I wish there had been a complete set but alas, this was all I found after scouring the store several times over.

Sunbeam Waffle Iron ca. 1940’s to 50’s, Chrome Model W-2

This is a real beauty!  Picked it up at another estate sale for a pittance.  It was pretty dirty, but after a little elbow grease and a few hours of painstakingly cleaning the grill, voila!!

Ca. 1945 to 1955  Sunbeam Waffle Iron  Model W-2 makes jumbo sized waffles in no time at all.  Original cord and in fantastic condition, this baby will outlast any modern waffle iron made today.  The chrome top has some scuffing to the surface but other than that, it looks amazing.   Measures 12″  square and weighs over 10 pounds.  It will need to be re-seasoned before use as I scoured the grill.  Later models have removeable grills which popped out for  easier cleaning but this early model does not.

For sale at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market,, 26 Mill Street, in Almonte Ontario.
