These are Box #1 and Box #2 in a set of 2 boxes of revolving Christmas tree light shades that were made for Noma Lites Canda Limited, in Japan.  There are 4 different designs in each box.  These are very delicate and it is amazing that they have survived intact all these years. They date back to 1937.

They are papier mache shades with Christmas designs on them, painted by famous American artists. They are placed over a bulb and the heat from the bulb makes them revolve.  Back then, they retailed at approx. 5 cents each and were sold in boxes of 4, like mine, and in boxes of 10.

Fascinating and beautiful to look at.

Please note these items are now SOLD!!!
