Franciscan Ware Floral Pattern, England ca. 1980’s

As you can see, I like bold, bright coloured dishes for the most part.   They just look so cheerful.

They are Franciscan Ware made in England.  A very kind friend researched and found out the name of the pattern was Floral.  All Franciscan ware was made in the US until 1984. After that, Franciscan ware production was moved to England. The Franciscan brand became part of a group of companies known as WWRD, an acronym for “Wedgwood Waterford Royal Doulton.”   So these would be dated after 1984.

There are 4 dinner plates, 4 luncheon plates, 4 soup bowls and 4 dessert bowls, one covered sugar and one vegetable bowl.  All the dishes are in excellent condition, with little evidence of usage.  Nice shiny surfaces.  Some of the dishes have slight crazing in the glaze, but really not that noticeable.

These will be for sale at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte, ON, just 30 minutes west of the city of Ottawa

Priced at $ 85 for the set.

Please note these dishes are now SOLD!!!

Pyrex Small Green Casserole in Cradle ‘Vintage Grapes’

12 Jan

green pyrex casserole

I really like this little pyrex casserole.  It sits in a transparent green plastic cradle for carrying.  The top has a grape pattern and is named, appropriately, Vintage Grapes .

This one is in very good condition, with minimal wear evident on the surfaces.  This is the first one I have found that was actually in its original plastic cradle.

Will be for sale at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON.

Priced at $18

Fitz & Floyd Bunny Rabbit Tea Pot

12 Jan

F & F Bunny

Fitz and Floyd was founded by brothers Pat Fitzpatrick and Bob Floyd in Dallas, Texas in 1960.  The company started out as an import company, but then moved into designing ceramic giftware as well. They moved into tabletop products and accessories in the late 1960s.  The collectibles like teapots, cookie jars and ornaments were introduced in the 1990’s.

Most collectors of F&F will recognize a piece from across a room.  They are very distinctive and full of imagination and colour.   This is a nice whimsical teapot, adorned with a lid shaped like a rabbit, with a decidedly Easter theme on the pot.

For sale at my booth soon at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON.   Just 30 minutes west of the city of Ottawa.

Priced at $ 45.00

Please note: This teapot has now found a new home!!!!

Royal Albert China Dishes, Brigadoon Pattern or Thistle

12 Jan

IMG_6254

This is one complete 5 piece place setting of Royal Albert Bone China in the Brigadoon pattern, also known as Thistle.  Place setting consists of one dinner plate, one salad plate, one luncheon plate, one cup and one saucer. Soft pastel blue and purple thistles with moss green leaves and gold edged rims.  The pattern was available for a long time and was finally retired in the early 2000’s.  A place setting as above was priced at $155.00 back then.

Bone china sets are not as desirable today as they used to be.  Those of us baby boomers who were married in the 70’s and 80’s typically registered for a fine bone china pattern such as this one made by Royal Albert in England.  Many of us never used them except on very special occasions so they can be found in excellent condition today.  The brides today are much more practical, opting for good quality everyday dishes for wedding gifts rather than the delicate china of old.   Most older bone china sets can be bought for a fraction of what they cost new.

There are 4 place settings currently available.  Each place setting will be priced at $50 and will be availabe at my booth at the Almonte Antique Market, 26 Mill Street, Almonte ON, just 30 minutes west of the city of Ottawa.

Vera Neumann Salad Days Dishes, Island Worcester

Another great pattern by Vera Neumann called ‘Salad Days’, designed for Island Worcester in Jamaica in the early 60’s.  These patterns were not produced for a long period of time, just a matter of a couple of years, so they are rare to find these days in good condition.
